Centella asiatica

Gotu kola is an Indian herb that has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. It also used as a brain food with therapeutic focus on improving memory, stimulant and to promote longevity.

Gotu kola is typically eaten raw in salads, steamed and served with rice or made into a tea.

In India and Indonesia, gotu kola has long been used to promote wound healing and treat skin diseases.

In Europe extracts of gotu kola or Centella asiatica are used as drugs for the treatment of wound healing defects.

Based on traditional usage patterns and clinical findings, gotu cola represents a good value for people who suffer from varicose veins or swollen ankles as well as for anybody recovering from a connective tissue injury such as a muscle or tendon strain, ligament sprain and skin abrasion.

In animal studies, gotu kola extracts have been shown to increase the production of hydroxyproline and collagen, the structural components needed for wound healing, by 50-60 percent.
